those damn petlovers..

Check out this ad:
I wasn't sure if this ad was being serious or not at first. It turns out it's their new ad campaign; a "recession buster." And since I'm a sucker, I went to their website and found this:

Love seat - Candy by Tails & Company

aiyaa! If I had money to throw, I would totally buy this and every other cat furniture they have on their site. My Shiro would look exquisite on this cat sofa...

glitz*

I am no big fan of bedazzled jewelry and unnecessary glitz, but I have to say, I do have a certain weakness to sparkly things. I've always liked swarovski crystals - I mean what girl doesn't like shiny thing - especially when they are big and chunky and cheap(er than diamonds)? But WOW, some of the stuff they have out is super cute. I never knew swarovski made such things! so very...anime!
A swarovski crystal flash drive? I would normally say
"come on," but it's so freakin' cute...

If you haven't been to their online store in a bit, you should check it out.

Nice pillows...nice pillows?

When I was at pottery barn the other day, I came across this pillow, which I thought was pretty cute. Well, not so much cute, but interestingly attractive. It didn't have a cute price though, so it stayed at the store. But then, I found this OTHER cute (or interesting) pillow at an online store that had no affiliation with pottery barn. Maybe the artist sold his design to PB? There was no mention of it. tisk tisk...
I'd definitely support the artist over a store like PB though...

monkey...

How cute is this? A mug with lid and infuser. On top of an adorable illustration. I love monkeys...

Special shoutout

A small happy birthday shoutout to my little sister as she turns 27 today. yikes! She's getting pretty old too! ah!

And here's a picture of Shiro, who really likes playing under one of those EZ-fold step stools. Though lately she's getting a little too big to fit under there.

Neat find

ABC3D by Marion Bataille

I found this sweet find at Z Galleria of all places. Pretty neato. It's a pop up ABC book - contemporary style and some nifty paper engineering. Here are my favorite letters -

The 'i and j' pop up with the same dot, the 'u' is thinly cut strands, and the 'w' is a reflection of 'v'. How clever!
Later that day i found it online coincidentally at this posh website: http://shopnoun.bigcartel.com/product/abc3d-by-marion-bataille

But the best part about my find was that it was 1/2 off!! STEAL!

have a good weekend. i think we're hittin' 80 degrees sunshine!

An adventure in the yard..

There's this area in front of my kitchen window where rain water collects, and sometimes it turns into a handsome pond. I don't often see kids playing around there, but there were these 4 kids that were just doing their kid thing this afternoon. One accidently dropped their little monkey toy in the pond. I noticed them because I heard a lot of yelling out my window... And as kids do, they started to think up of some crazy ways to get that doll out of the water. I witnessed them throwing rocks at the ducks in the pond so that they would swim over to the doll, as to bump the doll to shore? That failed, since ducks can fly. It was fun watching their little brains ticking. After a few failed attempts with short garden tools, the wind blew in their favor, and the monkey doll was saved. I thought that the adventure was over, so went back to whatever I was doing at the moment. Ten minutes later I walked past the window again to see the MONKEY DOLL IN THE POND AGAIN! Kids...what the hell are they thinking?!

Now here's a piece...

My lovely afternoon

I had an errand to make at the mall today, so I decided to at least treat myself to a stroll around an outside mall, since the weather was cooperating (finally). It ended up to be a delightful afternoon.
Got my fragrance (it was at Sephora, I was just looking in the wrong place, AND it was on sale!) and I think I spotted some spring around the corner. I love sunny days.

I was cleaning out the drawers...

...when I came across this fantastic thing. hahaha! Not only is it offensively funny, but the cat looks like my tabby, Tono! I have yet to be adventurous and try the gum...

Banner time

Hey look! UP! it's a new banner! Yippee~
It's a papercut design out of some poster-thick cream paper.
I'm thinking it needs some colorful highlights.
More improvements to come!

Weekend peace

I just can't resist kicking off the week with a post about my kittens, since they are just too cute not to share. Here they are right on my lap, in what I like to call their ying and yang pose. They enlighten me with their sweetness...

Ghetto Fabulous

The pictures from the Graceland chapel that we ordered finally arrived! Excitement! Here is the most killer of all photos. Klassy. Wouldn't you know it that the inside of the chapel would be all champagne gold, just like my dress?
That would be Minister Elvis and us in front of the alter.

Is that green...

...I see out my window? Has the cold streak finally snapped in bitter-old Chicago? Could it be...spring!

Some round things..

I bought a cactus for my husband yesterday, and decided to look around the house for some round things to take pictures of. From the top left - the Turbo Scratcher, an incense stand cover, a yellow vase, my lunch, mini orange clock, and the cactus.

On a side note...

I don't remember having a dog in the house...screwy kittens.

A tribute to an 80's Classic

It started off a few nights ago when I yelled "hey you guys~" to get the kittens' attention for dinner. My husband (ou, my first time to use that word! :) found it utterly hysterical. We've been googling Goonies ever since and trying to find out if that infamous Goonies 2 was ever going to happen. It looks like it's in "the works," but there's no substantial proof of this movie being released. Ah, what a fantasy and a nightmare it would be to see a sequel to such a great classic.

I also found this website that gave a detailed description of the characters then-and-now. Thanks to Kiddo for being a true Goonies fan.

Easy like sunday mornin'

I wish I had a lazy sunday like my cat here... it's like he's got his own little spa treatment by the windowsill. That's a zen posture right there.

Oh yeah...

There was something pretty cool that I did see in Vegas which was out of the norm.. I mean how often do you come across a tranformer, right? It was huge!

Minor Highlights

When we walked into Caesar's Palace one lovely afternoon, the fire alarm went off. I, of course, freaked out, thinking the building was going to collapse. Here is my mum and dad looking bewildered as the flashing lights and horns started to go off. I suggested we stay close to the main exit in case of an emergency evacuation. Everyone else said I was crazy.

And no Vegas trip would be complete without taking the famous shot in front of the Bellagio fountain. (Yes I know that is mighty cheeseball of me). Unfortunately, due to high winds, the fountain show did not happen that night. Bummer.

Before the O show, my family and I decided to check out the gift shop, where we succeeded in fooling around with the merchandise and taking pictures without any attendant kicking us out. Here is a shot of me with some sweet pair of shades.

My it's so BIG...

I thought I'd dedicate a post to the mighty Grand Canyon since I went snap-happy CRAZY on our helicoptor ride. It was a killer experience; and my first time riding a heli! We took a tour that landed inside the canyon, and made a quick gas station stop in the desert. The whole tour only took 3 hours! Words really can't describe the awesomeness of the canyon, nor do pictures give it justice. We had blue skies when we set off from Vegas, but ended up with a few rolling clouds. The pilot was really excited when it started to rain at a low altitude, cuz as he says, it never happens. I guess we were lucky??

What would have been a 2 hour car ride was a 20 minute helicopter ride into the canyon. Yes I'm sure there is yet another feel to climb down the canyons, but heck! I don't like exercise. :) I gotta say, good bang for the buck!

Las Vegas Part Trois

It really bursts a bubble when you get home from a destination like Las Vegas only to be greeted by cold, white snow. Ah~ reality. Looking back on the wedding, we had killer weather and beautiful blue skies. It couldn't have been more picture perfect! I am anxious to get the photos we took with Elvis inside the chapel (there was no photography allowed) - which will arrive in approximately 2-3 weeks.

After the wedding, the family gathered together for a dinner @ Emeril's (BAM!
), and then we were off to go see the wonderful Tom Jones. He didn't look like himself with all that grey hair, but he sounded the same. FANTASTIC. Other highlights include the "O" (Cirque de Soleil) @ the Bellagio, and a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon. Epic.

Las Vegas Part Deux

Due to the uber expensivo Wi-Fi @ the hotel, I have not had the chance to update the blog as frequently as I would have liked to. So sorry! We will be flying back tomorrow, so I will start massive uploads as soon as I get home. Two more pix for now from the wedding. And for those skeptics still out there, it was NOT an April Fool's joke! :) Gotcha though.

Yup, it's for real guys.

Here are the rings to prove it!

WE'VE FINALLY DONE IT!!

For those of you I lied to, forgive me! I wanted to keep it sooo very very quiet until the very end. I would have hated myself to ruin it at the eleventh hour. NEway, behold, the lovely Mrs. Kawamura!! We are in Las Vegas BABY~ staying at the lush Wynn Encore hotel. We're here with just family - small and intimate wedding - more pictures to come. Enjoy for now!

Fantastic!

The unveiling is upon us, but I wanted to share some nice shots I took of where I am. Where? You'll soon find out. Here's some clues:
